Restore Missing “Extract All” Option to 7-Zip Right-Click Menu

After every 7-zip update, I seem to lose my right click option to extract to a folder. This is a huge time saver so it’s worth the time to get that setting back. With that said, finding this isn’t always the easiest.

Here’s my go-to reminder on how to add back 7-Zip Extract All and Extract To right click settings

Open 7-Zip using Run as administrator, then click on Tools (menu bar) and Options. Changes to options do not stick unless you run 7-Zip elevated (as admin).

In the System tab, select 7z and / or zip under “Type”, then click on the + button for “All Users”.

In the 7-Zip tab, check the context menu items you want, and click on OK.

Settings Not Saving? Make sure you’re running as an administrator:

“Run as administrator” using a Keyboard Shortcut

NOTE: This will allow you to temporarily run a program as an administrator once until you close it.
1. Press and hold Ctrl+Shift while opening the program.

2. If prompted by UAC, then click on Yes to apply permission to allow the program to run with full permission as an Administrator.

Hope that helps! 🙂
